Graco Nasal Clear Nasal Aspirator

Posted by Vee at 10:07 AM 0 comments

A. Farrell "frederoni" (Houston, Tx)
Works great, when you read the instructions!!

Our daughter was constantly getting a cold in the winter, so we were endlessly having to clear out her nose, which she hated. We would rinse out the bulb aspirator after each use, but when I got a whiff of the inside of that thing one day, I nearly puked!

One day I found this inexpensive option at Wal-Mart. The first few times, she was unsure, but once she saw how it made her feel, she truly doesn't mind it. I wasn't totally impressed at first because I just felt like it wasn't sucking enough. But when my husband read the directions, it tells you sometimes, if the mucus is thick, you need to suck in a little water in between suctions. When you do that, it works perfectly! As gross as it is, the water flushes out the loose boogers and they go straight to the clear cup.

We loove this gagdet, and I suggest all the people who complain about the suction try using the water!

Aidan'sMom
Luvs it!!

My son cries when I use the bulb, and does fuss when I use this aspirator; however, he will stop fussing and coo when he feels the mucus coming out of his nose. I imagine it feels quite good to be able to breathe well! I use it everyday. I haven't seen this in the reviews I read, but it's necessary to use the saline drops with this just as you would the bulb. You wouldn't believe how much mucus comes out, and it makes me wonder how the poor babies feel that don't get there noses cleaned out everyday. I imagine it's uncomfortable as babies cannot breathe through their mouths :-( All in all, I highly recommend this product.

Munchkin White Hot Inflatable Duck Tub

Kady "Kady" (Atlanta, Ga)
Best Tub Ever
This has been the best bath investment we made for our son! He began using this on the countertop in the bathroom at about 7 months. He's 14 months now and it's in the bathtub. The quaker on the duck's bill still wokrs and it has a handy suction cup so we stick it to the back of the tub wall when done. It drains nicely. We've taken several vacations and it deflates with ease. I don't know why the previous poster said it took them a half hour to blow up!? I've inflated this within a couple of minutes with no problem. Their issue may have been that they didn't read the directions regarding the valve. Many inflatable items have a closed valve so when you try and blow up the item, you have to pinch the stem at the same time. This allows a little flap in the valve to open and let air in. The purpose is to keep leaking of air from the valve stem over time to a minimum. My 72 year old mother in law blew this up at the beach with no problems once I showed her the valve trick! We highly recommend this tub as it is durable and fun! We just squeak the duck's bill and our son comes running for his bath!

C. Burns (NYC)
Perfect solution for shower stalls

We have 6-month-old twins in a typically small NYC apartment. They were quickly outgrowing the kitchen sink but we don't have a bathtub, just a 30"X30" shower stall.
This tub fits the bill perfectly (no pun intended). Most baby tubs are relatively enormous (and sized for a bath tub), but because this is inflatable it folds down into the storage stool with no problem, and because of the suction cup on the bottom it hangs dry on the wall of the shower stall. It's sturdy enough for a big baby, I can't see needing a plastic one for at least another year. The babies love it; they splash and can hang on to the sides or be supported by them. The bottom is just textured and padded enough they don't slip around. Excellent design and perfect size. Our babies actually have bath time now. It might just be the best $15 I've ever spent.
Other notes: I would recommend for babies who can sit up unassisted or very close to it. Having a handheld shower head helps a TON for the shower stall. For you twin parents out there, this isn't really big enough for both of them, so we bathe them one at a time. Travels very well - hello holidays. The beak squawks when you squeeze it, they don't seem to care about that (yet).
Overall it's a no-brainer product. Enjoy!

Great Organizer
Carrie D. Friday "Carrie" (Palm Bay, Florida)

I recently ordered this for our tub.

My daughter's bathroom is also the guest bathroom so when people come to stay with us, we have to dig all the tub toys out.

We originally had the Boon Frog toy thing that sticks to the way. It was horrible and didn't work at all. I was skeptical of ordering something after that experience.

This organizer is perfect. It keeps all the toys out of the tub. It has removable dividers which are perfect for organizing bath toys.

I noticed some people mentioned that you can't use it in the shower if you share the same bathroom. I disagree. We just push it all the way to the back and then the shower curtain will close easily.  I am very pleased.

Shannon B Davis "Nepenthe" (Arlington, MA United States)
makes my bathroom clean and neat and keeps all toys in one place,

This organizer is simply one of the best purchases I have ever made. It is simple and non-obtrusive, simply adjusting to fit over your bathtub, resting on the sides. If you do not have flat sides to your bath tub, this may not work for you. It has dividers, so you can create separators between, say, soap and shampoo, and toys. We use it to store the rubber duckies, shampoo, soap, and so forth. It also handily blocks access to the faucet and all the enticing knobs on that end of the tub.

Our bathtub would surely be a much messier place without it. I usually try to avoid buying too many baby products that I don't really need it, but this one - is a total must for a clean and organized bathroom.

Dream On Me Baby Bath Seat, Blue

LOOK NO FURTHER!!!
I'm a mom of 7 children ages 6 months to 16 years. Needless to say I have tried many baby seats for the tub over the years. This one is great. I'm always worried when ordering online since you can't touch the item to see how well it is made. I have a very fat little one and there is plenty of room. ALL bath seats have a slippery seat but this one has a bigger front bar between the legs to try and help with the comfort issue. Worst case for a little boy wrap a hand towel around the bar for cushion. I have done that in the past. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and wanted to leave a post for mommys and daddys to know that this is a great buy.

Nicole Gorley
Absolutely awesome!
I'm mother to a 7 month old who I've never bathed by myself before. I'm a pretty petite person (5 foot tall), so I was VERY nervous bathing my son. My husband bathes him and I help when I am not in the way LOL! I bought this seat because I remember when I was younger, my mom used them with my brother and sister, similar seats at least. I though, 'Hmm! This could solve my problem and make it a ton easier to bathe a squirmy, splashy, excitable kid!'. It did, too! He didn't seem too interested in the toys just yet, he wanted to splash more than anything. When we were done, I held him with one arm and rinsed him off and voila, done.

I was nervous though, before running the bath. I couldn't seem to get the suction cups to stick down at all, maybe one or two at a time, but not all 4. After I filled the tub I tried again, and it stuck really well - if it hadn't, I would be writing a very different review.

Mission accomplished, bath time conquered! Mom - 1 , son - 0. :)

Mommy's Helper Toilet Seat Lid-Lok

H. M Rothfuss "mom of 2" (United States)
An end to toilet fishing.
I love this secure and easy to use toilet lock.

I used this lid lock with my toddler from 10 months until 3 years. The best thing about it, is that it works well, but does not have to be attached with adhesive, so it can be installed and removed easily for use or cleaning. I think that the previous reviewer must have had a strange potty, or more likely, just had it installed improperly. If used properly, it clamps onto the rim of the potty without being permanently attached. I found it was difficult to remove, and couldn't remove it just by pulling. It also doesn't rattle if it's installed on the front half of the toilet and NOT under the little buttons that keep the seat off of the rim. I have tried it on a variety of toilets. We were able to have a spare for travel, so every toilet was safe. I really can't understand what went wrong for the previous reviewer. I wish I could help her try to install it so it would work. There are two sizes of clamps to fit different sizes of toilet rims, I found I had to use one for our very old upstairs potty and the other for the more modern downstairs potty. You HAVE to clamp them tightly on the rim though, or it won't work, and would certainly rattle. Maybe that was the problem.

The base is a clamp that's adjustable to fit the rim of the toilet tightly. Then there's a swing-up/down latch that clamps over the lid and seat keeping both of them down. You have to lift two buttons at the same time as you lift the latch, I found I could easily do it with one hand while holding a newborn, but my toddler, who could easily defeat all of our cabinet, drawer, and door locks just couldn't do it. Because I did it one handed the trick wasn't obvious.

Well, I recommend this to all my friends, and will buy more for my new house.

Cheryl Kleehammer
It works, thank goodness!
Every time I would turn my back my two-year-old twins would get into the toilet. It was disgusting, messy and made my life a complete hassle. I would have to stop cooking dinner, clean up the mess, bathe the kids and hope they'd stay out of the bathroom. There is no way to lock the door to our guest bathroom, and I was actually going to have to run out and purchase yet another child gate to keep the kids out of there.

I figured the price of this lock is cheaper than a new gate, so I bought one to see if it would work.

It works! It took all four spacers to make the lock fit our somewhat oddly shaped German toilet, but now that it's in the kids can't budge it a bit. The toilet is a large oval, so I had to put the lock directly in the front to keep the lid down tightly.

It's been a while now and they can't get around it, even if they pull on the lock or try to force the toilet lid up. It's gotten to the point where they don't even bother with the toilet anymore.

I'm buying another for our entry way 1/2 bath so I don't have to keep locking the door from the outside. I wish I'd known months ago that I could spend less than $8 for a solution to this problem!

Burt's Bees Baby Bee Shampoo & Wash, 12-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2)

Great soap for sensitive babies.
Our son had dandruff after we tried using Johnsons & Johnsons for the first few washings. We then switched to the California Baby brand and while it fixed the flakes, our son smelled like a 35 year old European man ready for a night at the discotheque. We couldn't find the fragrance free so we went with the Burt's Bees brand. The smell is of mild honey comb and it doesn't upset his eyes or skin.

They changed something about the formula because the last few bottles we have purchased on Amazon have had a much thinner consistency when compared what we used to get. Still works well, we just go through more since it seems like it has been watered down.

My favorite Soap, Not Just For Babies
Burt's Bees Baby Bee Shampoo and Wash because has a delicious scent. I am a 27 year old with super sensitive skin. I grew up using bar soap, but now prefer liquid soaps, and I've tried just about everything. This is the mildest, best smelling soap I've used. I'm thrilled that the scent doesn't bother me. My skin feels better (I think my former brand of liquid soap had ingredients that were slightly irritating to me, but I am not about to switch back to them and find out. I did a google search about possibly irritating ingredients in soaps and sodium lauryl sulfate is one of them that I am now avoiding.

I recommend this to anyone (baby or adult) with sensitive skin, and I would use the fragrance free version if you're not sure about trying the scented version, although the ingredients look pretty mild: orange oil, anise oil, vanilla oil, etc. This is more cost effective than California Baby, which I also like, but I prefer this scent. I even mixed a little of Burt's Baby Bee wash into the remainder of my California Baby wash.

I also used this as a shampoo, and it left my hair feeling clean and soft.

Itzbeen Baby Care Timer

Posted by Vee at 6:16 AM 0 comments

Must have - they should issue these in hospitals when you give birth,
Stacey Tipton "mlinguist@aol.com" (Anchorage, AK)

This timer system is beyond helpful - it becomes your BRAIN when you have a newborn, as the hours, feedings and diaper changes become a total blur during this amazing yet totally sleep deprived time of your life. While it would be nice to have a few more features like total ounces drank, whether the diaper was a wet one or a doodie, and tracking of daily totals for everything - that'd be more of a infantcare PDA, and is a bit beyond the scope of this little device. All it aims to be is a timer that will keep track of the key stats in your baby's life, consequently making your life way easier. I wake up in middle of the night and the baby is grunting, for example. I click the backlight button and see that in fact the baby has only been asleep for an hour, and had a diaper and bottle right before that. Then I just go back to sleep. On the other hand, he beguns grunting and making noises and I see the Itzbeen says it's been 2 hours 30 minutes since his last bottle or diaper, and I know it's time to get up and feed him.

It's also great for team caregiving, as my husband can hand me the Itzbeen after doing his morning shift, and I automatically know when the last change and bottle were. We use the wildcard button to track bottle expirations too.

Thumbs up for the developers of this cool gadget - I hope to see an "Itzbeen II" w/ some advanced features in time for my next baby - although keeping it simple does help keep it easy and quick to use, especially in the fog of a 1am, 3am, and 5am feeding schedule! (my son never got the memo that full term babies are only supposed to eat every 3 or 4 hours :)

spinyfern (Chicago, IL)
I got this product before our baby was born as a way to help my husband be involved with the care of our newborn--I figured that keeping track of things like diapering and feeding schedules would help him feel more integral to the life of the new baby since I would be breastfeeding and doing the lion's share of the feeding work. But it turned out to be more than just a good idea to have when my labor and delivery took 3 days in the hospital and produced one beautiful but tired infant. Our daughter took a couple of weeks to come out of her daze (3 days of being squeezed by contractions would stun anyone!), and in the meantime we had to wake her for feedings, which we juggled with a pumping schedule to help my milk supply come in and build up. This turned out to be an invaluable gadget during those first chaotic weeks. As a bonus, since it arrived two weeks before we delivered, we also used it to time my contractions at home.

Pros:
-The four seperate timers are great. We managed to track our daughter's feedings, my breast pumping, her sleep cycles, and other miscellaneous events all at once. The option of being able to set an alarm (silent with flashing light or beeping with flashing light) for each of the timers was an extra bonus.
-The nightlight feature is fantastic. Even now when we're not using the timers that often I use the nightlight several times a night to check on our daughter without turning the lights on or disturbing my sleeping husband. When we were using the timers the seperate backlight feature was also critical since we could check the display without making it too bright.
-It's small and fits in the palm of your hand or clips onto your clothing. So it goes everywhere and I even slip it into the diaper bag when we're going out of town or even just headed out and about and I need to keep track of something.
-It did accomplish what I wanted it to: my husband was able to be very involved with our daughter's life in the first few weeks. Plus it helped me out that he could keep track of things that needed to be done when I was completely zoned out and sleep deprived.

Cons:
-There really aren't any. Some people complain that it should have more features, like keeping track of wet/dirty diapers or other feeding details. But that's really only something that you do for a short time, and adding features like that would detract from the simplicity of the device.

This is a great product. It had it's heaviest use in the first few weeks of my daughter's life, but we continue to use it and find ways to make it useful for all of us.

Fisher-Price Precious Planet Whale of a Tub

Kate Blue "Kate" (The Grand South)
this tub is the ONE!
Save yourself the time and energy looking for a baby bath tub and head straight for this one. I'm so happy with this tub that I find myself making more time for bath time with my baby! First of all, it's just so darn cute. But seriously, here are my top reasons for loving this tub:

1) For the infant stage, no sling to mess with. Although a sling sounds nice and hammocky, you won't miss it. Sling issues from my experience include sagging, baby suspended over the nice warm water, not actually in it! Hard bumps for baby's tender back or bottom. None of those issues here!

Instead of the sling, it's much simpler...baby's back rests against the soft, oval padding you see in the picture. Baby is kept from sliding down into the tub by a removable ledge, which leaves more of baby actually comfortable and IN the water with legs free to move and kick, which makes bath time more fun and enjoyable! By the way, it will take a little muscle power (not a bad thing) to remove the ledge when baby can sit up.

2) For the 6+ months stage or when baby is sitting up, remove the ledge you have a basin large enough for baby to sit comfortably and play without knees knocking against the edges, yet it's not so large that it takes up too much space or baby feels insecure. I also like the depth. It can be filled with enough water without having to be filled to the brim.

3) It comes with a perfect little accessory: a baby whale strainer that is (a) cute, (b) functional, (c) fun toy. First of all, this baby whale is just adorable. Secondly, it's very useful during the infant stage, especially if you're not using the kitchen sink sprayer. Simply scoop up water and allow it to flow through the strain holes to rinse baby or tickle baby. Lastly, when baby starts grabbing, it becomes FUN for him or her. Curiosity, cause and effect, those lightbulb moment looks. Just priceless, and again it's so simple.

4) It fits in the kitchen sink perfectly. It also works on the counter top since it has non-skid type material underneath -still use common sense and stay beside baby & tub. It fits in the bath tub as well. So, where ever you want to use it, the tub should work.

5) Price - this tub is the best value AND quality I've found. Many other tubs cost more, but they have features that don't live up to expectations.

MomToFour (Redlands, CA)
Great tub for the price!
I used a Safety First one for 2 sons and didn't like the small crevices in the end where soap and slime could eventually collect. I also didn't like that the no-slip rest was too low and one little kick from baby and he'd slide down into the water with his back over the butt rest. I checked out a Eurobath, but it is much to large for kitchen sink/counter bathing and stooping over a tub to reach a slippery baby isn't easy. But I know some people always think higher price means better quality. (This isn't always true!)

After searching I came across this, the 'butt-stop' is more adequate for babies and is removable for bigger kids. The surface has no small areas making bleaching/cleaning easy. It also fits securely onto the sink, better than any others I've tried. The only downside is there is no sling for spongebaths when they still have their umbilicle cords. They usually only have their cords a short time so that is alright with me in the long run.

UPDATE: After daily use for 1.5 months I'm still happy with this tub. I've also discovered that it drains really fast which I love.

ANOTHER UPDATE: I'm now using this tub with a new baby and I'm still happy with it. It came out of storage in great shape, no brittle parts and the foam on the back still looks new.

Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo, 18-Fluid Ounces Bottles (Pack of 3)

When it comes to a baby wash and/or shampoo, you need to know it is not only gentle, but actually cleans without drying out skin or just masking odor. Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo does it all. Everything else we used on my one-month old son was resulting in dryness and flaking. Immediately after switching to Aveeno, his skin and scalp is smooth, his hair soft, and he even smells great without being overpowering. This product comes in many different package options and is available in subscribe and save through amazon. The 3-pack happened to be the best deal when I ordered it. Be sure to look up the different options before your purchase for the best savings.

We have been using this soap for my son for over 2 years now, since he was a newborn. I was leery of the Johnson & Johnson because I know someone who's baby girl had a very serious reaction and because their Skin Deep ratings were not good. My search began looking for a baby soap that had a good rating (ie not a known cancer causer), that smelled nice, did not break the bank completely to buy it (like California Baby) and that wasn't going to irritate my baby's skin. The result was the Aveeno baby soap. It often goes on sale and there are coupons for this product occasionally too making it not so hard on your wallet. My son has a few food allergies and eczema (resulting from food reactions) so I knew I needed a soap that wouldn't irritate him. Unlike alot of parents we bathe him every night, it's just part of our bedtime routine. I haven't seen any drying of his skin and often use the lotion as well.
I highly recommend this soap!

The First Year's Infant To Toddler Tub with Sling

Perfect newborn to infant tub...
We originally weren't going to buy a baby tub, thinking that we would be able to bathe our son in our kitchen sink. But we changed our minds when we saw this tub. Our son was 9lbs at birth (and yes, I had him all natural!), fitting perfectly into the mesh sling. I liked how the sling held him comfortably in the water without me or my husband having to hold onto his floppy body the whole time.

Now that our son is 4 months old, we don't use the sling anymore. The reclining position seems to work just fine. He enjoys kicking his feet and flailing his arms to slpash the water. The sides of the tub are smooth so he doesn't hurt himself at all. The non-slip inserts keep him where he's supposed to be with a minimum of repositioning.

The plug in the bottom makes it extremely easy to empty. Also, we will leave the plug open and let water from the tap run into the tub so that the water in the tub doesn't get too soapy for rinsing.

There's a section at one end where you can put clean water, washclothes or whatever strikes your fancy. The tub also fits very securely over single or double sinks.

While it's kind of big/bulky, this tub's many convenient features more than make up for its size. We can see using the tub for a long time.

Makes bath time happy time!
We got this tub about two years ago for our son. We used it for about a year with him. Now we are using it again for our newborn daughter.

This tub has two outstanding features. First, the hammock holds a newborn or infant snugly. This makes the baby feel secure and gives you the ability to have a hand free. Thus, it's possible for one person to bathe the baby solo without worrying that the baby will fall into the water.

Second, because the hammock has adjustable straps, it can be raised or lowered. This allows you to have baby out of the water for a sponge bath prior during the first few weeks when they're not supposed to be submerged. Once their cord stub falls off, you can lower the hammock so that they are in the water as little or as much as you want.

As the baby grows, you remove the hammock. Baby can lie against the inclined side until he or she has the strength to sit up. Then, once sitting well, they can use the straight-backed side. Because the tub is small, it's easier to keep baby upright even when they haven't mastered sitting up. Also, another advantage over a bath seat that goes on the floor of the bathtub is that this little bath doesn't require so much water to fill, making bath time simpler and quicker.

Some reviewers have complained that the tub does not drain completely when you open the drain plug. This is absolutely true; however, I think the drain plug is merely intended to drain out the vast majority of the water -- which it does -- so that you can turn the tub over to rinse it and drain it completely. Without this drain feature, the filled tub would be incredibly heavy, making it nearly impossible to turn over to pour the water out (not to mention the mess you'd probably make trying to dump all that water down the sink!).

"allcla81977" (Horn Lake, MS)
So far so good!
I really like this tub so far. My son is only two weeks old so I haven't been able to submerge him completely in water. The little sling has worked well for his quick lil baths. I had a hard time picking out a tub. This one caught my eye because of its depth and versatility. I also like the drain plug and tempature guard. I don't believe any bathtub or sling should free your hands but this one does secure the baby so it's not so hard on you to keep them in place. I would suggest this product to any new parent.
I would like to add this tub fits on your sink so you can bathe baby right over the kitchen sink. This helps keep you from bending over so much. pretty neat idea!

Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment

Heals dry hands - Nurses perspective
As a nurse I wash my hands several hundred times a day it seems. Even with the hospitals using moisturizing soaps my skin gets very dry. I bought this little jug and take it to work with me. It is amazing how well it can moisturize my VERY dry hands. In the winter I get cracks on the outside of my palms, without fail every year. I take this cream and let it sit on the crack for as long as I can. By the next day or so the crack has healed enough to be more manageable.

Several patients have this cream prescribed to them by their doctors its so good.

I highly recommend this cream to everyone that suffers from dry, cracked skin!

Lisa A. Frank  (Connecticut)
I purchased this ointment based on a recommendation by my son's pediatrician. My son suffers from severe eczema and nothing we were using on him was helping. We have to be very careful with what we use on his skin because anything can make his condition flare up. The pediatrician recommended we use the Aquaphor ointment on him at least two times a day, and especially after his bath. She also said it is important to apply it within minutes after patting him dry from his bath before the skin has a chance to 'dry out'.

This is the only product that has helped his skin condition. If we use it on him twice a day his eczema is nearly non-existent. It has worked so well on him that I started using it after I shower and it has made a tremendous difference in my skin. I don't have eczema but in the winter I end up with severe dry skin and this is the only moisturizer that made a difference.

The only downside to this ointment is that it goes on greasy and can take a few minutes for the greasiness to soak in. I prefer not to put on any good clothes right away in case some of the grease transfers to my clothes before it soaks into my skin. If there is a greasy spot or two on the clothing then using powder on the spots helps to get it out (let the powder sit on the greasy spot for a few minutes or more so it soaks up the oils, then brush the powder away). Even though it goes on greasy I decided to give it 5 stars because it is an 'ointment' rather than a 'moisturizer,' and it does what it is supposed to better than any other product we have tried.

Thank you for reading my review.

Spasilk 10 pack Soft Terry Washcloth

Love these washcloths for cleaning baby's bottom!!
I needed small washcloths to clean my LO's bottom for cleaning up during diaper changes. I thought the 100% cotton ones couldn't be beat (from the spa silk towel and washcloth set), then I purchased a set of these to try out. LOVE THEM!!! These are great for cleaning baby's bottom - use a wipe to get the major stuff, then use these washcloths (soaked in warm water and wrung out) to get the detailed work done. The are small and thin enough to get in the nooks and crannies, but absorbent enough to retain enough moisture to be effective. They have a soft side and a "rougher" side. Terrific. I'll probably eventually start using in the bath, but they are terrific for diaper changes right now. I purchased two more packs to make sure I have enough on hand. Well worth it for my use! Highly recommended for this use!

J. Brock (Portland, OR)
Super soft for delicate skin
I bought these in pink for our daughter after reading favorable reviews on Amazon.com ... they are incredibly soft and perfect for the bath. Another reviewer complained they weren't absorbent, but, if you use them exclusively for bathing, I don't really think that's an issue. Yes, if you are trying to use them to wipe up liquids or spit-up or something similar, I can imagine they might disappoint because they have a fairly silky texture - but, again, for the purpose of bathing your child, I think these are where it's at. I have since purchased more and now include them in baby shower gifts.

Baby Banana Bendable Training Toothbrush

Rehta (Arlington, TX, USA)
Got this for my then 7 month old daughter and she loved it! She loves chewing on every part of her banana brush. I make a game out of brushing her teeth (no toothpaste, yet) with it and it makes her laugh every time. She is almost 9 months old now and still loves it.

The only bad thing about this product is that due to the material that it is made of, it attracts dust, dirt, and hair like you wouldn't believe. You think your floor is clean, but the banana hits the floor and you have to rinse it off before giving it back to baby.

Despite that, I still love it. And with the little handles, you can attach a paci clip to it so it won't hit the floor when out and about!

My daughter loves her Baby Banana Brush!
I am so glad I bought this baby toothbrush! My daughter is 7 months old and it is mostly just a teether right now, but I also brush her gums (she hasn't cut any teeth yet) to get her used to having her teeth brushed when she gets them. She seems to find this very soothing when I do this and she chews on the brush on her own constantly. The banana peel handles are easy for her to hold and make me feel better about her not being able to choke on it. Because this toothbrush is silicone, hairs and fuzzes stick to it very easily, but a quick rinse under running water cleans it quickly. I am so glad I bought this product and have recommended it to other moms, I also think it is great that when she is ready we can graduate to the Toddler Banana Brush next!

My son loved this from day 1. He wants to chew on everything, especially my husbands hands. He started knawing on this from the minute i gave it to him. My son is 5 Months.

Munchkin Arm and Hammer Nursery Fresheners, 5 Pack

These are smaller than I thought they would be, but work very well. I'm not a fan of lavender scents, but this one is not overpowering, and is actually quite pleasant. I hope they last 90 days as promised.

I got these to try out because my doctor's office doesn't allow us to throw away wet diapers in the exam rooms, but they always want our newborn in a dry diaper. Since it's a 35 minute drive to their office, she is inevitably wet every time. So I keep one of these in the diaper bag, and also use the Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Bag Dispenser, Assorted baggies, and I never worry about my diaper bag smelling fowl, even if it's only for a 35 minute drive back home.

I have twin girls and started out with a diaper genie; however, it was too small and smelly - the entire nursery smelled like dirty diapers. Then we switched to using a regular kitchen garbage can and I was trying to find sticky odour eaters to use with it. I couldn't find any in at various stores that I looked at, but I went on Amazon and found these. They do not stick, but I ordered some velcro tape along with them and the combo works great! No more smelly nursery!

Added Oct 20: 3 months later, these are STILL fresh. I haven't replaced any of them in my diaper bags, hamper or diaper pale. These DEFINITELY last 90 days as promised, and today, they still smell like they did on day 1. They've helped everything stay fresher. I will be buying these again, once the first pack finally wears off.

First of all, when I read the ingredients on the package I went "yuck". But the more I looked at them, I realized that it wasn't actually bad at all - it was actually excellent! The main tooth decay ingredient is Xylitol. Check out the wiki page on this to get a better feel for how good this sugar alcohol is. It has all kinds of studies indicating that it can help tooth decay significantly and has no known toxicity issues. The sugar alcohol is derived from trees and seems very safe.

This is important. My kids are not old enough to realize that they can't swallow the toothpaste and I still need to keep their teeth clean ...

As a side note, they use Xylitol in chewing gum. In fact it is in many of the more expensive chewing gum brands that promote healthy teeth.

This is the only beginner toothpaste we use in our house. Check out the wiki page on Xylitol and I can say pretty confidently that you will use this as your only toothpaste with kids that may swallow their toothpaste.

Other than the Xylitol, the rest of the ingredients are pretty innocuous and are claimed to be all natural. So there you are.

Thanks!!

My baby never wants to brush his teeth (he's 1 yr old and have 6 teeth), but with this one my job became easier. He loves the flavor and eat it all...plus, now he opens his mouth by himself leaving the "fight" in the past :)

My daughter is 7 months old now and she gets so excited seeing me pull out the finger brush. She LOVES to chew on it more then any other teether we own. She likes the flavor of the tooth paste a lot. I actually have to stop and take my finger away or she would never let me go! It sticks really well to my finger, I'm never worried that it will come off in her mouth, I have to literally peel it off my finger. I just rinse it under the tap and it stays clean. I've put it in the dishwasher before and it came out fine. I think it's a great introduction to brushing and hopefully she will like our upgrade to the banana brush next!

Nipple Cream

Our son had the most horrible case of cradle cap. The pediatrician's office suggested this cream. Don't be fooled by the photo, the jar is very small, but the salve is very concentrated. The texture and color looks like vaseline, but actually is much thinner when spread on, and absorbs easier. There is only the faintest smell, and not mediciney either. The ingredients contain shea butter and calendula.

It has really helped with the cradle cap, severely diminishing the horrible weeping/scaling/flakiness of the condition.

I tried this and the Earth Mama Angel Baby nipple butter--putting one on each nipple several times a day to compare both pre and postnatally. EMAB made my nipple really sensitive--so sensitive, that when my daughter nursed, I actally cried out in pain after several feedings! I switched to using Motherlove on both nipples, and the difference was prettymuch immediate. An hour after putting it on, she fed again, and there was no pain!

There have also been many times where I have neglected to put it on after several feedings in a row, and my nipples have gotten sore. as soon as I put it on again, it soothes the discomfort, and within an hour, I am back to almost no discomfort.

It smells faintly of olive oil (its first ingredient), and goes on really smoothly--it does not hurt when spread over sore nipples, and you don't need a lot (my daughter is 2 1/2 months old, and I'm *maybe* 1/4 of the way through the pot). Yes, it's small--a little bigger than a pot of Carmex--but it is SO WORTH THE MONEY! This is a staple for me when gifting for baby-showers! If you end up not breastfeeding, or have some leftover when you finish breastfeeding, you can use it as a diaper rash ointment or on baby acne. It will not be wasted! Also works well for a lip balm :c)

I'm a mom of 4. I've been through the cracked/scabbed nipple thing with my daughters too. My sons, for some bizarre (Freudian?) reason have been marathon nursers without problems. Minor problems, but nothing like looking at the raspberry that used to be your nipple (even with proper latch and positioning and all that) and wondering WTH went wrong? LOL... I recommend Nipple Cream by MotherLove.com. It's cheapest through LuckyVitamin.com. That, plus the Ameda Comfort Gel pads... and your nipples will *adore* you. That's what I've been using with my newborn (2nd) son. I alternate between the Comfort Gel pads and the Nipple Cream. I love Lansinoh as well, but I find the Nipple Cream *much* easier to apply to abused nipples.

One application of the Nipple Cream will have you seeing instant results with instant relief. I was introduced to it at the hospital, and couldn't believe how much the Nipple Cream helped the pain. A must-buy.

Moby Bath Spout Cover

This is great. I can leave it on rather than take it off like some to pull for the shower. Our spout is one of the longest & there is still about 1/2 inch at the end that is not covered, but none on the market would. Daughter loves it & she can't pull it off :)

I was worried this wouldn't fit since our faucet is 40 years old, and the shower diverter is in the back of the faucet instead of the front. However, it fits perfectly! The tail flips over the diverter and works great. It hangs low enough over the front of the faucet to protect her little head if she raises up under it. I can understand why people say that it would not stay on a faucet that has no diverter. It does slide forward, and is held on mostly by the diverter, and only slightly by tightening the fins. It is super easy to wipe clean and is made really well. I'm sure this will be the last faucet cover we will have to buy, and we will probably be able to pass it down. Plus, it doesn't have any goofy pictures or characters on it. Even the packaging was stylish. It's just simple and cute.

The Skip Hop Moby Bath Cover works exactly as you would expect. It slides easily over the spout of your bathtub and is thick enough to protect little ones from getting hurt if they bang their head on the spout.

The only issue we've had so far is that it's so cute that my girls (2.5 years and 1.5 years) won't leave it alone! As another reviewer mentioned, you'll want to make sure you have the shower pin that sticks out of the top of your spout. If you don't, this product could easily be pulled off and played with instead of serving it's very useful purpose protecting your little ones.

Nosefrida Hygiene Filters

This thing seems like a nasty way to pull out the mucous, but trust me - it works. I bought this because the bulb was giving my son bloody noses and made him howl. With the nosefrida I just spritz him with saline and then suck the snot out. He does not even cry, and it gets so much out that I am amazed he could have breathed with all that up there. He always breathes clear after I use it, and it is invaluable to me on those nights when he has a stuffed up nose and wakes himself up. I used to get up to soothe him every couple of hours on those nights... now I get the NoseFrida and he sleeps the rest of the night. It is amazing! I am buying this for every baby shower I go to from now on.

These refills are needed for the nosefrida. At three dollars and free prime shipping, you can't pass the deal up. I have to admit, it is gross to suck the snot out of my sons nose, but holy cow does this thing work!!!!! He has a lot of congestion due to reflux, so I get lots of use from this. It works a lot better than the bulb aspirator. The refills make sure that nothing gets in your mouth while you use it. Trust me, you want to get these!

Diaper Dekor Plus, Value Pack! Full Size Refills 2 ea

I really love the Diaper Dekor Plus system. I actually use it for cloth diapers (and then throw the plastic bag away after I empty the dirty diapers into the washing machine). I hate that it feels a bit wasteful, but these bags really keep the stink of the diapers under control. Highly recommend!

We've been using the diaper dekor plus for about two years now, and it's great. The bags are easy to change, and b/c of the design I can empty the diaper pail as often as I feel I need to, without wasting an entire bag. However, I rarely find I need to empty it before it's full, since the only time you get whiff of it is when it's open to throw another diaper out. And even then, it's not bad. The bags are sturdy and don't rip despite the weight they sometimes get to before being emptied, or the various other things (sometimes pointy and sharp-ish) that get thrown in there.

Nosefrida The Snotsucker Nasal Aspirator

S. Priebe "kristasmommy" (Phoenix, AZ USA) , said :
This nasal aspirator is absolutely amazing. It WORKS. And it is completely non-invasive. My 4 week old newborn caught a cold, and this thing saved me. It cleared her out SO WELL! I had been using a bulb syringe, and she would scream and scream. Plus, the bulb syringe was irritating her nose and causing it to bleed. Once I got the Nosefrida, I was able to suction her nose much more effectively without shoving anything in her nostrils. She barely even cries when I use it. Mostly, she hates the saline drops I use ahead of time. I have to wonder if I didn't start using the Nosefrida if she would have developed a worse infection. All that drainage could have headed to her lungs. I read some reviews on the Nosefrida that said it takes too much lung power. It definitely does take some lung power, but if you have healthy lungs it should be no problem (I had no difficulties). Also, some people said it's hard to hold the infant's head still. I don't think it's any harder to hold the baby's head still than with a bulb syringe (with both aspirators you have just one hand free). Actually, I think it's easier because I know my baby fights the bulb syringe much more than the Nosefrida. One great benefit of the Nosefrida is that you can wash it in the dishwasher. It is a very clean system. I HIGHLY recommend this product!!! Every mom who has a baby should own one. It truly comes down to a safety issue: allowing your baby to breathe.

WOW!!!! This is the best nose sucker on the planet!!!! I was mortified after my chronically stuffy 6 week old son turned his head unexpected while using a traditional bulb aspirator that resulted in a nose bleed. I immediately started looking for a method to clean his nose without having to violate his nose cavity. After much research, I found Nosefrida. I was skeptical at first, but decided it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. A couple of drops of saline and a few quick sucks and wow the mucus AND the harden boogers came out with an ease I couldn't have imagined. It was gross seeing a tube full of slimly, mucus and boogers only inches away from my mouth, but the sweet sound of my son breathing easier made it worth the initial ick factor.

I will say that using the long tube that comes with the Nosefrida is very difficult, requiring massive amounts of lung power. Instead I have clipped tube to just long enough (about 0.5 inch) to attach to the aspirator and it works just dandy. I have also found that taking several strong short bursts in the row (about 5-7) pulls the material out faster with little tugs. Most importantly, no more bloody noses and my son breaths easily and don't scream every time he sees me coming towards him for a nose clean.

I recommend this product to everyone!!!!
